It is with great joy as well as great sadness that I write to you tonight. Let me start by letting everyone know effective immediately I will be stepping down as President of CIFCA. Many of you know I have started a new business this last year which has had me very busy and away from home 5 days a week or more. After 18 years in drag racing with the best partner and team anyone could ask for I have made the incredibly hard decision to take the 2010 season off from drag racing to focus on the new business and what is most important to me my family. Sheldon "Skinny" Lofgreen will be taking over the driving duties of the Arizona Thunder in my year long absence. This to includes stepping down as the president of CIFCA.I wish everyone the best and hope you all understand my reasons for stepping down. I truly love the sport of Drag Racing and have had a great 5 years leading this group I am just unable to give it the time required.

I have talked with a couple of people in the last month about taking CIFCA over but kept coming back to the person I thought was best suited with the best plan from day one. Many of you know that Joe Powell and I had talked at great lengths about Joe taking over CIFCA in the last couple of months resulting in Joe forming the PAFCA. Joe and I talked over Christmas about how to keep this together as one group. Ultimately Joe and I have the same goals in mind for where we would like to see things in the years to come. We both agreed we wanted to do what was in the best interest everyone with 4 key things in mind.

1. An affordable competitive place to race Funny Cars and have a ton of fun in the process.

2. Give the racers a place to race in the 7.20 index yet at the same time open up something for those who would like to run in the 6.80 index.

3.Give the tracks who are happy with our current show the ability to keep it but at the same time promote a faster show for the tracks looking for that.

4. Build the car count and stability with in the group to make sure this great thing started 25 years ago would continue for years to come.

This has been a difficult process but I believe we have come up with a way to make this work. Joe and I have agreed that the current 7.20 races will stay intact with a minor tweek possibly with Governors cup CIFCA's 4th Sacramento race scheduled for 2010 and maybe a combined type of show for Odessa Texas. The series will fall under the PAFCA name. CIFCA has Events, Bonus programs and we are close to having Calendars lined up for 2010 which will all transition into the PAFCA name. I will be forwarding a list of members who have paid dues for 2010 as well as Calendars to Joe and they will carry over to the PAFCA. Joe and I will be working with the tracks sponsors and racers over the next couple of weeks on the details. Please keep in mind we have a lot of details to work out so bare with us over the next couple of weeks while we make the transition. I will be sending out all of the 1099 info this weekend. Any financial details or questions from 2009 and prior should be forwarded to me Joe will not be sent that information as they are 2 separate groups and the PAFCA has no financial records or responsibility for prior CIFCA years. Also keep in mind you might see some rule changes to the 2010 season and beyond which would have happened weather it was still called CIFCA or not. As I have said before Joe and Krista are great people and have a true drive and ambition to make the PAFCA the best Funny Car Assoc. in the United States. I have also let Joe know that we have racers who would like to help with things like Race Director, Web Site, Tech Committee, ect... I am sure Joe will be contacting you soon.

In closing I would like to say it has been a lot of fun and I have met a lot of great people during my time in CIFCA. I would also like to say thank you for everyone’s support over the last 5 years whether it was a good or bad call on my part or the track’s.  With every decision made race to race CIFCA members always proved they were the class of the field at every track we showed up at making my job as President very rewarding. I look forward to racing with all of you in the future and hope you show Joe the same respect you have shown me. This is not an easy job but I truly feel Joe is the right person for it and I look forward to seeing the PAFCA grow stronger in the years to come.

So for the last time

Good Bye from El Presidente
